Good to know
The Pinewood Homestay Kufri is a small wooden home in the hills, shared with other guests and neighbours. These 24 simple rules keep everyone safe and comfortable. If anything isn’t clear, just ask your host.
A few basics that keep check-in quick and the house safe for everyone.
Every adult guest needs a government photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, driving licence or voter ID) at check-in. Foreign nationals need their passport and visa.
Early check-in or late check-out depends on the next booking, so please ask your host in advance rather than on the day.
The number of guests is agreed at booking. Extra guests or children must be arranged with your host before you arrive. An extra mattress can be provided at an extra charge.
Friends or family who are not staying are welcome in the common areas only with your host’s okay, and must leave before quiet hours begin.
Pinewood is a home in a small hill village, with other guests and neighbours close by.
Keep voices, music and TV low during these hours. Sound carries far in the hills and through wooden floors.
Please don’t play loud music on balconies, terraces or in the parking area at any time of day.
Birthdays, small celebrations or group gatherings are possible — just ask your host first so arrangements can be made.
Alcohol is your own responsibility. Behaviour that disturbs other guests or neighbours may mean being asked to leave without a refund.
Drugs and any illegal activity are strictly not allowed on the property. Your host will inform the police if needed.
Wood, steep slopes and winter weather call for a little extra care.
All rooms are non-smoking. Smoke only in open outdoor areas, away from the wooden house, and put out cigarettes properly.
Bonfires are lit only at the spot your host sets up, never on balconies, and are never left burning unattended.
Cooking is done in the kitchen of the Suite with Kitchen. Please don’t use stoves, induction plates or other cooking appliances in bedrooms.
Turn off any heater, the geyser and lights when you leave the room or go to sleep. Never cover a heater or dry clothes on it.
Children must be supervised at all times on balconies, stairs and near the road. Please don’t sit on, climb or lean over balcony railings.
Roads around Kufri can freeze in winter. Check road conditions with your host before heading out, and avoid driving after dark on icy days.
Use the parking spot your host shows you and keep the driveway and road clear for other guests and emergency vehicles.
Treat Pinewood like you would a friend’s home and it will be just as nice for the next guests.
Please don’t move furniture between rooms or use bedsheets and towels for anything other than their purpose. Damage beyond normal wear is charged at repair or replacement cost.
If something breaks or stops working — hot water, a heater, a light — tell your host right away so it can be fixed during your stay.
Lock your room when you go out and keep cash, jewellery and gadgets with you. Return keys at check-out; a lost key is charged for replacement.
Please ask before bringing a pet. If approved, pets stay off beds and sofas and are never left alone in the room.
Small habits that keep Kufri clean and the house comfortable.
Monkeys are common around Shimla and Kufri. Don’t feed them or leave food, bags or shoes on balconies, and close windows when you leave the room.
Put waste in the bins provided, keeping wet and dry waste separate. Please don’t throw anything down the slope — carry your plastic back from day trips.
Water and electricity in the hills are limited, especially in winter. Turn off taps and the geyser after use and switch off appliances you’re not using.
Pinewood sits among local homes and orchards. Please don’t enter private land or orchards, and dress and behave respectfully in the village.
By booking a stay at The Pinewood Homestay Kufri you agree to these house rules. Breaking them in a way that puts people or the property at risk may mean being asked to leave. Questions? See the FAQ or contact your host.
